Another Day, Another Observation

I just want to make it clear that I am not bashing the youth. I’m just pointing out a few things that I have noticed…it’s all in fun. Ok, so I was in Target over the weekend in Long Island and what I saw helped me to come up with my next post.

My mother and I were in the Household section and this little boy (probably around the age of 9 or 10) was running up and down the aisles. The first thing that came into my mind was ‘where is his mother?’ This boy was hiding in hampers, screaming, rearranging the shelves, and just having the time of his life. Now when his mother finally came around she told him to STOP and he replied “Leave me alone mom, go shop or something, I’m trying to have some fun.” They went back and forth for a little while longer. Keep in mind that I was in the next isle and I could still hear him. It was clear that this boy was either showing off or just simply lacked respect for his mother.

I don’t know if I was just a punk when I was young, but this would have never happened with my parents. It seems like children today lack the respect for adults and fear of the consequences. Sometimes I listen to my little cousins talk to their parents and I wonder how their teeth are still in their mouth.( OOOPS that’s the Caribbean in me talking again) I just think that if you won’t even give respect to your parents, will you respect other adults? I’m not an expert, so who knows if it’s the parents or the child or a combination of both. Let me know what you guys think.

Are we really ready for the future?

This is my first time creating a blog and naturally I wasn’t sure what I wanted my blog to focus on. So as I travelled home from school on the train I was provided with some unwanted entertainment and it dawned on me what my blog will be about. I am going to blog about the youth of today and how things are waaaaayyy different compared to when I was younger. I mean I am not an old woman lol but it is easy to see that things are making a turn for the worse. While I was on the train today (being nosey I admit) I was listening to the conversations of these young girls. They couldn’t have been more than 12 and omg the things that they were saying. They were talking about SeX and I was really disgusted b/c they were so vulgar and so loud and clearly misinformed. A lot of questions popped in my head to try to understand what was going on but a part of me really wanted to take of my belt and just beat them and tell them to go read a book but all I could do was shake my head. I miss some of the blind eye innocence. This kind of inspired the name of the blog “Show and Tell” because when I was young I was excited to show a new video game I got our go outside and play sports with my brothers (I was the ultimate tomboy by the way,) These are a some of the I was interested in at young age but now it seems like show and tell needs that guy from movies to come on with his disclaimer saying “that this conversation is rated M with adult language and situations.” So stay tuned with updates of some of the craziness of today’s youth………
