Are we really ready for the future?
This is my first time creating a blog and naturally I wasn’t sure what I wanted my blog to focus on. So as I travelled home from school on the train I was provided with some unwanted entertainment and it dawned on me what my blog will be about. I am going to blog about the youth of today and how things are waaaaayyy different compared to when I was younger. I mean I am not an old woman lol but it is easy to see that things are making a turn for the worse. While I was on the train today (being nosey I admit) I was listening to the conversations of these young girls. They couldn’t have been more than 12 and omg the things that they were saying. They were talking about SeX and I was really disgusted b/c they were so vulgar and so loud and clearly misinformed. A lot of questions popped in my head to try to understand what was going on but a part of me really wanted to take of my belt and just beat them and tell them to go read a book but all I could do was shake my head. I miss some of the blind eye innocence. This kind of inspired the name of the blog “Show and Tell” because when I was young I was excited to show a new video game I got our go outside and play sports with my brothers (I was the ultimate tomboy by the way,) These are a some of the I was interested in at young age but now it seems like show and tell needs that guy from movies to come on with his disclaimer saying “that this conversation is rated M with adult language and situations.” So stay tuned with updates of some of the craziness of today’s youth………

ReplyDeleteI could not agree with you more. I experience the same thing on the train almost every week with the younger generations either yelling cussing or talking about sex. It is actually pretty funny when everyone is "being nosy" and intruding on what they are saying and then we all just look at each other smile or make faces like are they serious? As the saying goes children should be seen and not heard ... guess there will be no need for that saying for the younger generations to come.
ReplyDeleteI heard that if girl jumps a lot after sex she doesn't get pregnant!?! lol, Anyways on a serious note, younger generation is totally get to know adult life earlier due to availability of internet and social networks. However, they don't get proper education on this matter. It is up to parents and teachers to educate young adults about such issues.
ReplyDeleteLOL, the caribbean reaction to nonsense, take that belt off gurl. I told these girls to shut up once after I heard the crap they were talking about. Don't get me wrong, as soon as I said it I quickly prayed that their older sister wasn't on the train to come and kick my butt. I just could not, not say something. It was disgusted. P.S. I came out the situation without being cursed out and without a scratch. LOL
ReplyDeletelmao @ nick. But the irresponsible mentality of our younger peers does get to me sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more with you and the fact that I have three younger brothers gives me another view of how much has changed from when I was there age. I feel that our generation has experienced such an advancement in technology in such a short amount of time and the way information is communicated now is almost completely different then how it was communicated even 10 years ago. I mean all of us are still young but the changes that have happened since we were in grammar school are pretty significant.
ReplyDeleteThis is really interesting because just yesterday my sister(13 y.o) asked to borrow my digital camera and she hadn't washed any of the dishes. So I said "after you wash the dishes" so sure enough she rushes back to me and says "I washed the dishes nowww can I use your camera?" So I gave it to her and shortly after I catch her on the computer uploading pictures of herself scantily clad in front of the mirror revealing a bit much for a 13 y.o. I was pissed to say the least. its her fast friends at school who are pressuring her to be like them. I had to have a heart to heart with her explaining why she shouldn't show her body to myspace. We all want boys to notice us but for me that time came a bit later... so I think this is a great blog topic.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you guys are talking about. I mean I don't have any younger siblings but I have younger cousins and I notice a lot. It definitely is a crazy world that we live in
ReplyDeleteI am sure you will find a lot of difference between when you were young and young teenagers now. I think it will be an interesting topic.
ReplyDeleteI think..in perspective of our parents or olders, even most of us did the same thing when we was those girl's age. kk
