Okay so it’s about that time of year again where we celebrate the birth of Jesus. I have to say that I looovveeee Christmas. You know how people say that you grow out of it as you get older? Well that has yet to happen for me. My two favorite holidays are Thanksgiving and Christmas and seeing as how I was out of the country for Thanksgiving, I can’t wait to celebrate Christmas. It has been a while since we decorated the house and went all out for Christmas. My oldest brother used to be the master mind behind the decorations but when he moved out =( we got kind of lazy and didn’t do it. (This made me kind of sad)
So this weekend my brother and I decided that we are going to do it without him and we are going to start decorating the house. I was pretty much there for moral support because there was no way I was climbing ladders to put up lights along the house but I did the decorations in the yard. People passed by saying OMG I love your lights so that made us feel good. By the way I know that our light bill WILL be high for this month. The inside of the house was the hardest part of course especially having a mother from the Caribbean… Every corner must be clean before we do any kind of decorations. We had to take down the curtains, put up new ones clean the shades the windows the list... goes on. But it was all worth it as we were decorating the tree. I think I was more excited than my niece lol .I try to relive all the little details of my childhood like when my father used to play the Christmas CDs. I had those on heavy rotation and they will be playing every weekend as long as I am in charge lol. I changed the doorbell to play a little bit of “Joy to world.” I don’t care how annoying they say I am in this house.
Even though I have a lot of school work to do and I barely got sleep this weekend I had to make sure that despite all that’s going on we had a little Christmas Spirit in the house. So if you hear me humming a Christmas carol don’t laugh at me just throw me a little smile. Deep down inside you know that I’m not the only one who feels like this.
Sounds like a combination of spring cleaning and setting up for christmas decorations. I get so lazy to decorate the house we end up putting the tree like a week before christmas LOL but we celebrate christmas the 25th and january 7th so the tree stays up quite a while.
ReplyDeleteI love decorating the house around christmas. I love putting up the tree, the cooking, the drinking, the family and friends .....I cant wait
ReplyDeleteWe're in the middle of decorating too, meaning everything is out but we haven't gotten around putting it up. For the first time in a while I'm actually looking forward to it because my parents have made effort to paint the house and clean around. Also, I must admit that I love all the Christmas songs playing 24/7
